About Us

Essential Health Clinic is a medical volunteer service corps providing free urgent care and access to health and wellness for those with the least resources and greatest barriers to care.
We are the only no-fee safety net clinic in Washington County serving a community of more than 85,000 uninsured Washington County residents - a number that will increase to 140,000 within three years. We currently provide care to approximately 4,000 patients per year, with plans for expansion to meet swelling community need. Our patients are ethnically diverse; many are unemployed or working low-income that cannot afford insurance premiums.

As health care resources are strained, our work becomes even more meaningful. The average cost of a visit to the local hospital Emergency Department is $1,800 to $2,200. A patient visit to the Essential Health Clinic costs just $64. Our work is made possible through meaningful collaborations with community, government, and corporate partners.
We are committed to our founding mission:
The Essential Health Clinic improves the health of people in Washington County through the collaborative efforts of community partners and volunteers, by providing high quality urgent care and access to healthcare services for those with the fewest resources and greatest barriers to care.
