Volunteer of the Year 2011

Georgie Scott, Recipient of the Frances Myers Award 2011

Georgie Scott, an Essential Health Clinic volunteer for more than ten years, has been selected as the Frances Myers Volunteer of the Year for 2011. Georgie connected with EHC when she was looking for a volunteer opportunity shortly after she graduated from the OHSU Physician Assistant (PA) program in 1999, and has been a volunteer provider ever since. In addition to volunteering as a PA two evenings each month, Georgie is also a longtime member of EHC’s Operations Committee and serves as a liaison for EHC to the OHSU Physician Assistant program. In her professional life, Georgie is a PA with House Call Providers.

Georgie was selected by a unanimous vote of the Essential Health Clinic staff in recognition of her years of service and her dedication to the clinic. She always displays a positive, helpful attitude and, as demonstrated by the additional time she devotes outside of clinic hours, she is always willing to step in and help. Georgie insists that it’s easy for her to give her efforts to the clinic. “It’s trite but it’s true - I really do get back more than I give.”

For the past two years, Nancy has been volunteering weekly to input patient data. As a Registered Health Information Technician, Nancy exemplifies professionalism and commitment to the proper record-keeping of our patient data by inputting data electronically and filing and archiving patient charts. Nancy’s exuberant personality and sense of humor make her a pleasure to know and work with. We are very grateful for the time, energy, and expertise that she has contributed to Essential Health Clinic.

Volunteer of the Year 2009

Nancy Hutt, F.N.P. recipient of the Frances Myers Award 2009

Nancy is our steadfast Monday evening Hillsboro provider. As a Family Nurse Practitioner she exemplifies dedication and commitment to our patients. Although Nancy may not ever set the record for most patients seen in an evening, she always sets the record for the compassionate treatment she shares with our patients. Her gentle, respectful demeanor has earned Nancy the respect and affection of all those she encounters.

Frances Myers Award

The Essential Health Clinic can only operate as a result of our volunteers' generous gifts of time and talent. Although all of our volunteers are special, some are truly extraordinary. As a means of recognizing those individuals, an award was created in 2008, to be bestowed annually, on a volunteer who exemplifies outstanding qualities and dedicated volunteer service to the patients of the Essential Health Clinic.

The first recipient of the award was Frances Myers. Frances is a nurse who began volunteering weekly at the Essential Health Clinic in 2003 and for the last 2 years has volunteered at nearly every Monday and Thursday clinic. Her knowledge, dedication, and genuine interest in patients make her an outstanding and valuable piece of the Essential Health Clinic.

Since Frances was considered to be a truly model volunteer, the award was named after her. The Frances Myers Award will continue to be presented annually. Our hardest decision will be choosing which of our many wonderful volunteers will be the next recipient.
